Title: Comprehensive Bibliometric Mapping of Publication Trends in Technology Adoption by Homestay Operators

Abstract: 
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of 42 publications indexed by Scopus, aimed at revealing the evolving trends in the intersection of technology and homestays. Our investigation unveiled the emergence of this research field in 2013, initially lacking discernible convergence patterns, while early research activities were prominently concentrated in Japan and Australia. Notably, among various document types, the “article” category emerged as the most prolific, underscoring the significance of academic contributions in this domain. It is noteworthy that the majority of these research papers were authored in English, comprising an overwhelming 95.24% of the total corpus, with Chinese publications accounting for the remaining 4.76%. Furthermore, our analysis identified the most cited article, “EWOM towards homestays lodging: extending the information system success model,” published in 2018, which garnered an impressive 37 citations, indicative of its substantial impact. Moreover, sustainability, particularly in the context of homestays, emerged as a noteworthy focal point, with three publications collectively amassing eight citations. Our scrutiny of these publications also highlighted the pivotal roles played by authors Braun V. and Abrar A. in shaping the discourse on technology and homestays. In conclusion, our findings underscore the centrality of keywords such as “homestay,” “tourism,” and “rural homestay” in the discourse, emphasizing their profound significance within the technology and homestays field. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
