Title: | Evaluation of Integrated Prediction Error Filter (INPEFA) In Analysis of Milankovitch Cycle through Synthetic Stratigraphy | Authors: | Alam, S Hadian, MSD Hamdani, AH Sulaiman, N. |
Keywords: | climate control | Issue Date: | 2023 | Publisher: | TAYLORS UNIV SDN BHD | Journal: | Journal of Engineering Science and Technology | Abstract: | The most recent development in earth science to achieve high-resolution of chronometer stratigraphy is the study of the Milankovitch Cycle in rock strata. A technique that has been widely and frequently applied in these studies is spectral analysis. However, since this method is unable to pinpoint the cycle boundary, stratigraphic correlation cannot be performed using it. We examined the Integrated Prediction Error Filter (INPEFA) technique to determine whether the Milankovitch Cycles were present in the cycles that INPEFA was able to resolve. As input data for this study, synthetic stratigraphy that mimics the eccentricity, obliquity, and precession cycles was generated. The results show that the three parts of the Milankovitch Cycle are also shown in the stratigraphic cycle of the transformation of the data series through INPEFA. |
