Abstract:
The TIG/MIG hybrid welding (TIG/MIGHW) process aims to increase MIG arc stability in inert Ar shielding gas. A 2D coupled transient model was developed to study the current-density distribution under the effect of TIG arc in TIG/MIGHW using Ansys fluent software. The simulation results indicated that introducing the TIG arc towards the MIG arc generated high current-density distribution to the aluminium alloy weld pool, producing a low penetration depth and high reinforcement height.
