Title: | Numerical simulation of arc behaviour in TIG/MIG hybrid welding process of aluminium alloy | Authors: | Roslan R.A.E. Mamat, S. Teo, P.T. Mohamad F. Toshifumi Y. Tashiro S. Tanaka M. |
Keywords: | TIG/MIG hybrid welding (TIG/MIGHW) process;MIG arc;aluminium alloy | Issue Date: | 2022 | Publisher: | American Institute of Physics Inc. | Conference: | AIP Conference Proceedings | Abstract: | The TIG/MIG hybrid welding (TIG/MIGHW) process aims to increase MIG arc stability in inert Ar shielding gas. A 2D coupled transient model was developed to study the current-density distribution under the effect of TIG arc in TIG/MIGHW using Ansys fluent software. The simulation results indicated that introducing the TIG arc towards the MIG arc generated high current-density distribution to the aluminium alloy weld pool, producing a low penetration depth and high reinforcement height. |
