Abstract:
The effect of Ca-less content in CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) properties were studied. The CCTO ceramic was prepared by using solid state method with stoichiometric formula Ca1-xCu3Ti4O12-3x. The Ca content were decreased with five different concentrations which are x=0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.10 respectively. The XRD results show single phase formation for all sintered CCTO and a small phase of CuO appeared when Ca content decreased. Apart from that, SEM micrograph for the compacted pellets show approximately the same size for all samples unless sample CCTO5 shows large particles which contribute to the segregation of Cu element. The dielectric behavior of CCTO was observed in a frequency range of 1 Hz - 10 MHz. The optimum dielectric constant was obtained at CCT05 with the highest ϵ0 (5.5 × 103) and lowest dielectric loss (tan σ) with a value of 0.5. This could be related to the less Ca content in which contribute to the higher Ca and oxygen vacancies in CCTO electro-ceramic.
