Abstract: 
This concept paper aim to propose a new model of innovative teaching that can be implemented in pondok institution without neglecting its traditional learning system. Qualitative approach by using in-depth interview will be conducted to explore the acceptance of the proposed innovative teaching model. The sample in this study will include the management of pondok institution registered with Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM). It is hope that finding from this study will help the pondok management to consider the proposed innovative teaching model in improving and reforming their learning system in order to remain pondok sustainability in facing with challenges related to Industrial Revolution 4.0 and globalisation. It is hope that the results of this study could help the Malaysian government develop a model for strengthening the pondok institution curriculum in line with mainstream education.
