The advent of technology has brought about a significant transformation in the field of waste management, facilitating the implementation of more effective and environmentally sustainable approaches to address the escalating environmental issues faced. A bibliometric analysis conducted to explore further on existing literatures and research within this two domain. The findings of a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 461 Scopus-indexed publications, focusing on trends in technology and waste management research found interesting trend in publications, authors collaboration, organizations collaborations and countries contributions in terms of publication on the particular domains. The study underscores the pivotal role of technology in enhancing waste management through improved collection efficiency, with notable environmental implications. It reveals that the research in this field dates back to 1974 and has exhibited a consistent upward trajectory, extending until 2022. Interestingly, India emerges as a prominent contributor in 2020, while English remains the predominant language in these studies. The Journal of Cleaner Production stands out as a prominent source. Notably, commonly used terms in this research encompass “waste management,” “waste disposal,” and “waste management system”. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.en_US
