Rambutan can be potentially employed as sugar source during the production of curdlan by Agrobacterium sp. ATCC 31479. In this study, Agrobacterium sp. ATCC 31749 was grown in the production medium supplemented with 10%, 20% and 40% concentrations of Rambutan Juice as the sugar source. The curdlan was extracted via sodium hydroxide and acetic acid precipitation followed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis. At 20% concentration of Rambutan Juice, the Agrobacterium sp. ATCC 31479 showed highest curdlan yield of 13.65 mg/mL. The optimization of curdlan production in bioreactor showed the highest curdlan yield was 6.2 mg/mL after 7 days. The results suggest rambutan could be employed as the alternative sugar source in microbial production of curdlan.en_US
