Digitizing Education in Restaurant Management (DERM)

Abstract

Digitizing Education for Restaurant Management (DERM) was developed to create a fun, interactive and lively learning experience for the students where the need for physical skills, emotional intelligence and technological awareness coexists within the same environment. It also helps develop and enhance the ability to apply new knowledge and expertise. Dealing with the tech-savvy generation, traditional learning methods became orthodox and likely to diminish their interest in learning. Integrating several educational tools as part of the subject's learning medium such as Google SketchUp, Trello, Powtoon and Google Sites, may encourage mutual interaction, induce positive post-learning feedback and elevate students' interest in a much better way for this Restaurant Management subject. At the end of the study, students positively achieved the learning objective.
