Abstract:
Since the covid-19 pandemic starting 2020, most of the teaching and learning at higher educational institutions are conducted online, and hence the submission of coursework assignments is also in the form of softcopy documents (word, pdf, etc.). Educators have difficulties adjusting to the new normal, whereby some print the softcopy submissions for marking purposes. This defeats the purpose of going paperless, and more waste is created.
This innovation project aims to offer practical solutions to these problems by developing automation to assist educators. This project aims to develop an automated assessment system based on rubrics. The output of this innovation project, which is the basic design of an automated assessment based on rubrics, has potential benefits for the educational programme courses that use rubrics to assess coursework assignments. It can also contribute towards achieving Malaysian Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and global sustainable development goals (SDGs).
