Abstract

Prof. Datin Paduka Setia Datuk Dr. Aini had a childhood dream of becoming a medical ‘doctor of people’; however, her love for her animals has brought her to a different path which beyond her imagination. She used to accept that she could not be a medical doctor after not being selected to be in the Science stream in her secondary school years. Fortunately, without realising that she is also gifted in writing, her English teacher initiated a second chance for her to fulfil her dream after reading her essay. She wrote about her interests in science subjects and her disappointment in not getting into the Science stream, which shattered her childhood dreams. A miracle did happen! Prof. Datuk Dr. Aini was given a second chance for reassessment, and she answered them well. Her passion for science has convinced the teachers that she was qualified to be in the Science stream. The second chance granted to her has influenced her way of thinking, where she always is more mindful of others before making any decision.
