dc.description.abstract | Kelantan State Museum is the main museum and office located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. Kelantan is situated in the northeast of Peninsular Malaysia and Kota Bharu refers to the state capital of Kelantan in which the State Museum is placed. This old building served as the colonial land office for a long time before but, it now has become the house of the Kelantan Art Gallery. In 1988, the interior of the building was renovated by adding an extra half story and rooms for a museum exhibition. At the end of the renovation process, it was finally opened on the 6th of August 1990 by Kelantan Sultan Ismail Petra. Kelantan State Museum building is a stone building. Before being used as a museum, it is the office of the Kota Bharu Municipal Council. The building has been restored and some changes have been made. The objective of the development of the Kelantan State Museum is to display the history and culture of the state of Kelantan for public viewing. The items that have been featured in the state museum are traditional musical instruments, traditional games, ceramic collections and land and water transport equipment. There is also an ancient history room of the ‘Gua Cha’ a historical site that proves that Kelantan was inhabited thousands of years ago by ‘Melayu Porto’. | en_US |
