Abstract:
This study aims to evaluate My Arabic language textbook for primary sixth grade students in the Republic of Yemen from the point of view of educational instructors and Arabic language teachers in light of the quality standards of the textbook. The study used the descriptive approach, and a questionnaire consisting of (40) items distributed across five areas (language and artistic direction, objectives, content, values and skills, activities and evaluation). The questionnaire was distributed to a sample consisting of (40) educational mentors, and (70) teachers, who are supervising and teaching the Arabic language in Taiz province, Yemen for the academic year (2020-2021). The results of the study revealed that all the five fields of evaluating My Arabic language book was about average. The field of language and artistic production of the book were ranked first, with an average of (3.538), and a standard deviation of (1.2088). The values and skills domain were ranked the worse, with a mean (2.752), and a standard deviation of (1.3797). The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences between the evaluative estimates of educational mentors and Arabic language teachers due to the job variable, academic qualification, and years of experience. Based on the conclusions of the study, some recommendations can be provided. One of the most important suggestions is the involvement of educational mentors and teachers in the process of preparing, writing and developing school curricula, and training teachers on the skills of analyzing and evaluating the content of textbooks.
