Biography
Jan-Frederik Flor is a lecturer and researcher with a strong background in architectural engineering and building physics. He has been awarded a PhD in Building Technology at the University of Nottingham in 2021. His research interests cover new developments in the environmental design of lightweight and membrane structures, focusing on the thermal and optical behaviour of multi-layer foil constructions in building energy retrofits. Jan graduated as an Architect at the University of Costa Rica and has a Master's degree in engineering of membrane structures from the Institute of Membrane and Shell Technologies at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Throughout his previous career in the building industry, Jan has gained over ten years of experience and specialist knowledge, contributing as a design- and project engineer in the design and manufacturing of textile and foil constructions on a range of scales. Currently, Jan teaches Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.
